In addition to student-centered services, our library resources and access to online training give rural educators the tools to develop better programs, vastly improving the quality of local education.
Yewoh, our local librarian in Lilongwe, Malawi recently began a digital literacy course and runs a local book club. As is true at all our library locations, Yewoh has a long waiting list of students who want to join her programs.
A village library is a community effort, and everyone has a stake in the effort involved. If a village applies for a library, it must provide 20% of the cost through labor and/or materials and engage in a rigorous vetting process that prepares community members to fully participate at all stages.
