Village Voices illustrates how our library/internet infrastructure enables us to take an innovative and creative approach to connecting our village school children to the world. This program directly connects the authors of well-known children’s books to the kids in our villages.

Every week, a different author sits down in front of a computer in the U.S. and reads his/her book to an attending real-time audience of eager listeners half-way around the world, gathered in our village libraries. To date, we have had the participation of over 50 authors.

This program is wildly popular, especially as after the reading, the children can ask questions, in person, to a famous author.

In the future, we plan to expand this platform into wider young adult and adult educational opportunities, bringing in experts from different fields to inspire, teach, present potential career options, and further open the world’s possibilities to our Village Libraries school children, young adults and their parents.
