We’re so EXCITED that you’re here!
Traveling to a foreign country is a big deal, you are going to have QUESTIONS.
Please reach out to our team and we will answer any questions we can! We usually respond to emails within 12 hours or less.
You can fill out an application on our mentor page.
Most volunteer mentors meet with their student for thirty minutes at the same time each week. We ask that you commit to mentor for at least four months. Of course you can always take additional mentoring slots if your schedule allows!
Short answer, yes! No teaching degree needed here. Our mentors often help students with lessons from school or simply provide a friend for some much needed reading time. As mentors, we’re here to be the best educational cheerleaders for all our students. The beauty of one-on-one mentoring is that you can tailor the sessions to whatever the student needs, whether that be basic math, science, history, reading, writing, etc. The value of this tutoring isn’t just academic progress—it also instills confidence, improves communication skills, and creates friendships.
We get it. Real life happens. In the event of sickness, vacations, exams, etc, our team is here to help you reschedule or postpone sessions. If your schedule changes, we can always find a new time that works for both you and your mentee.
Our mentor program is possible thanks to incredible communication apps like zoom and whatsapp (and you of course). We typically use Zoom, but we like to stay flexible to meet the needs of our village students. Once you’re all set to begin tutoring we will determine the best form of contact and add to your calendar.
Thanks for asking! Many ways, actually. You can follow us on social media to stay updated on VBB happenings. Donations are also a great way to support library building efforts and mentor program growth. Just so you know, 100% of funds donated go towards building and supplying our village libraries.
