A village intern is a passionate volunteer who wants to not only connect a meaningful service opportunity but wants to become part of the village.
Someone who wants to change lives and change their own life in the process.
Someone who knows how education can empower others to rise out of poverty, and knows the power of books
If this is you, then join us!
You will stay with a host family in the village who will teach you the local cultures and customs, and be your family abroad. Host families are handpicked and are usually leaders within the community.
You will work alongside the teachers at the Village Library to create a reading culture by visiting homes, teaching classes, helping out at the library, and working with local families.
You are encouraged to propose and lead your own projects. All ideas can be discussed with your intern counselor for coaching and guidance.
If you actively seek to connect with the community and immerse yourself in the culture that will surround you, you will become part of the village family
During the weekdays you will be working with the school and library on a number of projects that will encourage the education of the students. This will include doing home visits with one of the teachers to encourage the parents to be involved in their child’s education
The evenings are a time to connect with your host family and rest from the day
On the weekends you may go out with your host family or other interns to sightsee and enjoy the beauty of the country you are in. Your Host family and the intern counselor will help set up these excursions, including areas only the locals know.
Depending on the college you can receive up to 15 credit hours. Make a semester abroad cheaper than semester tuition. Talk to the application counselor for more details
One time $299 Application fee which covers online training, and expert support from the Project Specialist to get you ready.
