LA Kids Book Festival
ITAV celebrated a wonderful day at the LA Kids Book Festival this past weekend. With the support of generous contributors like Laura Numeroff and Milk Jar Cookies, nearly $3000 was raised for a noble cause. Milk Jar Cookies sweetened the event by donating 300 cookies, adding a delightful touch to the festival. The overwhelming success of this year’s festival has paved the way for it to become an anticipated annual event, promising even more literary and community enrichment in the years to come. Thank you to everyone who came out in support.

Student Spotlight: Tracy Chiphazi
Tracy Chiphazi, a dedicated 14-year old student at Namalimwe Primary School, has shown remarkable progress since joining our English Program. She joined the program when she was in Standard 7 and was experiencing difficulties with the English language. Now in Standard 8, her academic improvement is nothing short of inspiring. From scoring 50% in her previous terms, she scored 87% in last term’s examinations. Tracy’s dream is to become a surgeon and provide essential medical assistance to those in need. ITAV takes pride in being part of Tracy’s journey and looks forward to witnessing
her continued success as she aspires to heal and make a positive impact in the world. Her story exemplifies the power of access to quality education in shaping bright futures.
Student Spotlight: Alison Levine
Alison Levine is a paramedic and University of Alabama student who has been a mentor
with ITAV for the past 4 years. Not only a dedicated mentor, Alison has also been invaluable helping to recruit new mentors to our program. Her favorite book is Their Eyes Were Watching God, and she loves doing Pilates, taking care of her plants, and trying cuisines from all around the world. She says that it has been wonderful getting to watch her students grow over years and share in each other’s lives. She is grateful to ITAV for providing this incredible program.
